OER Knowledge CloudJournal ArticleConole, GráinneLearning Design has emerged in the last fifteen years or so as a new methodology to help practitioners make more pedagogically informed design decisions that make appropriate use of digital technologies. In parallel we have seen the rise of the open education movement; first through the emergence of Open Educational Resources (OER) and then through Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). OER and MOOCs are challenging existing educational offerings and have specific requirements in terms of their design.
